Easy Teriyaki Tofu

Ingredients

  • 1 block extra firm tofu
  • 2 tablespoons neutral oil for frying
  • 2 Stalks of scallion for garnish
  • 2 tablespoons green seasoning or salt free all purpose seasoning

Teriyaki sauce

  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 ½ tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons honey or agave
  • 2-3 tablespoons dark soy sauce
  • ¼ cup water
  • 4 cloves of minced garlic
  • ½ teaspoon ginger freshly minced
  • 2 teaspoons sesame seeds

Instructions

  • Cut tofu into cubes and season in a resealable container/bag.
  • Pour flour into the bag and shake until all the tofu pieces are evenly coated.
  • Add oil to the skillet over medium heat.
  • Fry tofu cubes on each side for 3-5 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Remove tofu from heat and place them on a paper towel lined plate.
  • In the same pan, add ginger, garlic, and tomato paste. Stir continuously for 2 minutes to prevent burning. Pour in the remaining ingredients and bring to a slow simmer for 3-5 minutes.
  • Toss the crispy fried tofu into the teriyaki sauce and remove from heat.
  • Sprinkle with sesame seeds/toasted sesame seeds and serve warm.
