Almond flour- binds all the ingredients together. Note that this recipe calls for almond flour and not almond meal. Almond flour is peeled and blanched almonds that is blended into a fine powder.
Almond butter- a source of healthy fat and adds a rich flavor and texture. And yes, you can substitute the almond butter for your favorite nut butter.
Rolled Oats- the whole rolled oats in this recipe adds a contrast in texture and is a great source of fiber.
Shredded coconut- contributes chewiness and a unique ‘coconutty’ flavor.
Maple syrup- flavorful and unrefined sweetener.
Chopped pecans and walnuts- adds crunch and a rich, earthy flavor. Additionally, they’re a good source of healthy fat.
Sea salt- balances out the flavors.
How to make Almond Flour Energy Balls
Add all ingredients to a bowl and mix well using damp hands.
After combining all the ingredients, the mixture may appear crumbly.
Using damp hands, you’re going to gently squeeze together and form mixture into a ball until it is round and smooth.
Refrigerate for an hour and enjoy!
Substitutions and Variations
- You can add dried fruits or chocolate chips to amp up the flavor and sweetness in this recipe.
- If you’d like to use cashew butter or peanut butter instead of almond butter, go right ahead. Note however, that this change will affect the overall flavor. They’ll still be delicious nonetheless.
- You can add in any chopped nuts you like such as peanuts, macadamia nuts, almonds etc. Just make sure that the amount of nuts you add reflects the amount recommended in the recipe card.

Ingredients
- ¾ cup almond flour
- 1/3 cup almond butter
- ½ cup rolled oats
- 1 ½ tablespoons coconut flakes
- 2 tablespoons chopped pecans and walnuts
- 2 1/2 tablespoons maple syrup
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to a bowl and mix well using damp hands.
- The mixture may appear crumbly when everything is combined.
- Using damp hands, gently squeeze together and form mixture into a ball until it is round and smooth.
- If the balls are not forming, add 1 tbsp of water to the mixture until it comes together.
- Refrigerate for an hour and enjoy!

Great! I added in 2 scoops (1 serving) of protein powder and 4 tbsp water. Also didn’t have pecans so I used peanuts. Yummy!
